Executive Certificate Course on Geoeconomics

11 – 15 January 2027

Currency wars, economic warfare, supply-chain reorganisation, trade wars, weaponised interdependence and the race for critical minerals increasingly shape today's power rivalries. Classical economic theory no longer captures international economic relations, where decisions follow strategic logic and non-market factors.

The strategic use of economic and financial tools ties geoeconomics closely to geostrategy. States pursue geoeconomic strategies that advance political and economic interests at once; private corporations must navigate the same terrain. Geoeconomic analysis integrates non-market factors, foresight and cultural, historical and geopolitical factors to read a world in transition.

Objectives

The programme introduces the core components of geoeconomic analysis and economic intelligence through an interdisciplinary approach — economic, financial, geographic, demographic, historical, cultural and political. It analyses the evolving strategic role of the nation-state amid global power shifts and intensifying economic competition, and includes a simulated economic-warfare exercise based on a real-world case study and a strategic-foresight exercise. On completion, participants can synthesise the parameters of geoeconomic analysis, identify the strategies states and corporations use to strengthen their position, and incorporate geoeconomic factors and foresight into decision-making.
